Just as you finish reading the final pages of Dark Walker Must Die—given to you by the grim-faced shopkeeper—a rough-looking outlaw in a duster coat stumbles through the inn’s entrance.

Blood drips from his mouth; he’s clearly taken a heavy beating from someone.

The outlaw clicks his tongue in annoyance and begins disinfecting his mouth with the whiskey the innkeeper slid across the counter.

Though this should be your first time meeting him, the man looks familiar. Indeed, he is a dead ringer for the author’s portrait printed on the back cover of the book you just finished.

“Damn it all. Because of that beating, all the stories I scrapped are swirling around in my head again.”

“Sounds like your ‘wings of creativity’ are flapping. Why not try telling them to someone? It might just sublimate into an idea for a new masterpiece.”
